About Dr. Azzam
Dr. Azzam is dually-licensed as a clinical psychologist in the states of California and New York. As a bilingual individual, she conducts a full range of treatment in both English and Arabic. She has over a decade of experience working with diverse populations and providing clients with various psychological services to best address their unique needs.
Dr. Azzam specializes in immigration evaluations and medical-legal forensic evaluations. She has testified as an expert in clinical psychology in superior court, criminal court, and mental health court. She is frequently contacted as an expert on immigration cases by attorneys and mental health professionals across the United States.
Therapeutically, Dr. Azzam has worked in elementary and high school settings, community counseling centers, community mental health, psychiatric hospitals, alcohol and substance use rehabilitation centers, forensic settings including the Los Angeles County jail, and in private practice. She continues to provide therapy services to adults and couples who struggle with various issues, including relationship problems, trauma, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions, and alcohol/substance use. Her preferred therapy treatment modalities include interpersonal psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive processing theory (CPT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused modalities.
Additionally, she supervises pre- and post-doctoral individuals, as well as associate therapists, who are in the advanced stages of training to becoming licensed psychologists or therapists.
Dr. Azzam teaches graduate courses on an adjunct basis at Pepperdine University in areas including psychological assessment, theory, interventions, and treatment. She also offers training and consultation services to small, medium, and large organizations and corporations on topics related to effective communication, increasing morale, and managing stress and burnout, among others.
